Saint Expedite

The legends of this saint are simple, and mostly obscure. However, he is revered in Afro-diasporic religions from the Reunion islands off the East Coast of Africa to Trinidad & Tobago as well as New Orleans. He is known for fast results and sure ones. He has been associated with various African spirits and deities, among them Exu and Bonsú. This page is a testiment to his influence and works. I first became aware of him from the role he has played in Hoodoo and Voodoo in the United States. He is a master of difficult situations and has been called upon by people in trouble for a long time. Below is a popular Brazilian (Portuguese) prayer invoking the aid of St. Expedite taken from the folk tradition. 

Oração a Santo Expedito:

Ó Deus, que intercessão de Santo Expedito nos recomende junto a Vossa Divina bondade, a fim de que, pelo seu auxílio, obtenhamos aquilo que nossos próprios méritos são impotentes para alcançarmos, Assim seja.
Nós Vós pedimos, Senhor, que orienteis, com Vossa graça, todos os nossos pensamentos, palavras e ações, para que eles encontrem em Vós, seu princípio e sejam por intercessão de Santo Expedito levados com coragem, fidelidade e prontidão em tempo próprio e favorável, a bom e feliz fim. Por Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. Assim seja.
